Keith & Our Bespoke Service

As we kick start the new year, Style Matters has exciting new plans with our bespoke service. We love bringing our clients visions to reality and getting involved with new projects. This year we have new members joining our team, fresh new faces mean new ideas, this including Keith our senior project manager. We decided to pay him a visit to his office to get to know him.

Q: Tell us about yourself?

“I’m married with 2 kids, aged 13 & 9. My daughter engages with musical instruments and is involved with netball, my son also plays drums and football”.

Q:  Sounds like you’re always busy?

He laughed – “They both swim as well as committing to stage coaching activities. It’s honestly a full-time job!”

Q: What are your responsibilities as a senior project manager?

“I oversee contracts, prestart meetings with clients, deal with customer issues on-site – always making sure the job runs smoothly as attention to detail is very important”.

Q: What is your experience in this industry?

“With 12 years in the industry, I’ve gained knowledge and understanding of the process of furniture manufacturing. Starting on the tools as a fixed seating assembler, then after a few years, I then became production manager, by that time I had 145 people working for me! I just worked my way up to become a senior project manager. I basically went from the ground, upwards”.

Q: What do you like most about your work?

“I love the problem-solving aspect of the job”.

Q: Do you like a bit of a challenge then?

He laughed, “yes definitely!”

Q: How did you become interested in this field?

“I just sort of fell into it really, I had a range of different jobs previously”.

Q: That’s interesting! What sort of jobs?

Keith laughs, “I’m not even going to go there, we will be here all day! – I lived abroad for a few years in Greece and I also lived in Spain, while abroad I worked in bars. There was a time where I worked in an Irish pub for 4 months, then I was a manager in a cocktail bar…well those were my younger days”.

Q: What projects are you currently working on?

“I’m currently just helping and quoting at the moment, trying to get used to the system here. I’m advising the sales team by providing a bit of guidance, I’m just passing my knowledge onto everybody, to help production and sales have a better understanding of what we are trying to achieve as a company”.

Q: What do you like about Style Matters so far?

“It’s a good team in here, the quality of the products look fantastic and everyone is well driven. Obviously, there’s always room for improvement to hopefully expand the business”.

Q: What do you hope to achieve by the end of this year?

“Well in a year or two years’ time we will be wanting to expand, hopefully, to be in the position to be one of the top UK manufacturers. There are so many elements on what we can do regarding hotels and a tonne of key projects we can do – we can’t go too quickly into it as you’ve got to form relationships, I’m really looking forward to the challenge!”

Q: Finally our last question, do you have a favourite bar/ restaurant you like to go to?

“No, not really, the best part of bars is just when you get a decent pint of Guinness in it. I like popping into Waxy’s in Manchester for a good pint of Guinness”.
